A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF AUDIO COMPRESSION ALGORITHMS USING DCT AND DWT
Abstract
Abstract: By lowering the amount of space that is required for the storing and transmission of photographs and motion pictures, image compression improves the efficiency of these processes. In order to achieve its major objectives, image compression aims to reduce the size of the file while simultaneously preserving the integrity of the data. The purpose of this research is to mimic two different picture compression algorithms. Discrete wavelet transforms constitute the foundation of both of these systems, with the first method employing the discrete cosine transform (DCT). The results of the simulation are exhibited after a variety of quality standards have been applied to a large number of images. This research helps professionals and academics choose the most effective method for a particular application by enhancing our understanding of the trade-offs that exist between DCT-based audio compression algorithms and DWT-based algorithms. Subjective assessments provide valuable information that may be put to use to improve the overall user experience for compression settings and to optimize compression settings.
