Abstract

Tri-guna means 3 qualities viz; sattva (balanced), rajas (active) and tamas (inactive) The aim of the paper is to find how similar are scales of the same construct, triguna using Vedic personality development model. To meet the assumption of similarity of constructs, systematic methods of categorizing the constructs are suggested in this paper. David wolf’s online Vedic questionnaire methodology is used in developing the triguna model using a college sample size of 100 (25 Ph.D. scholars and 75 graduate and post graduate students) out of 1000 college student’s population. Ttri-guna theory of personality qualities are validated and discussed with the constructs developed by David Wolf. These findings provide evidence for the validity of the three qualities theory of personality across different cultures. This model will be useful in defining the personality traits with less no. of items and better correlation factors, Goldberg synonyms English synonyms, Schwartz basic values and Hogan IPIP scales.
