POST TRUTH ERA IN POLITICS: EFFECT OF SOCIAL MEDIA MANIPULATION ON DEMOCRACY…?

Abstract

Most of the Institutions around the globe are facing the crisis of Trust. Basic reason behind this is the use of social media manipulation in order to manipulate Public Opinion. Even the state sponsored manipulation is growing rapidly. What the people are getting, they don’t know the truth about the same, even the alarming situation is that common man doesn’t know the source of real information when every institution is using social media for fake news, manipulation of fact, sponsored and manipulated propaganda and widespread broadcasting through social media platforms. Political parties are using this tool on an industrial scale and in organized manner. The present paper is an effort to analyse the scale of such manipulation and its impact of public opinion in reference to global scenario and considers Indian aspect as well.
